C'est avec une grande peine que nous accueillons la nouvelle du décès de notre camarade Eamon McMahon, militant et syndicaliste irlandais d'une détermination aussi grande que sa gentillesse. Professionnel de santé, membre du Irish Congress of Trade Union (ICTU), de Unison (Health and Social Services Branch), et de la Northern Ireland Public Service Alliance, il se battait pour un monde plus juste et solidaire pour toutes et tous, en Irlande comme dans le monde entier.
Son dévouement pour la justice en Palestine s'est traduit par son engagement auprès de plusieurs réseaux comme le Trade Union Friends of Palestine, la Belfast Palestine Solidarity Campaign, le Ireland Palestine Mental Health Network, et le European Trade Union Initiative for Justice in Palestine, réseaux dont il a souvent été membre fondateur, grâce à sa persévérance et son optimisme. Il a accompagné la délégation historique de l'ICTU dans les territoires occupés, en Israël et à Gaza en 2007, et c'est en grande partie grâce à son pouvoir de persuasion que de nombreux syndicats irlandais ont rejoint la campagne de Boycott, Désinvestissement et Sanctions contre l’État israélien.
Eamon voulait toujours aller plus loin, et motivait ses camarades pour ne pas laisser tomber. Nous sommes fier·es de l'avoir connu, d'avoir écouté ses conseils (avec son accent irlandais inimitable), et d'avoir partagé ses combats. Il nous manquera mais, en son hommage, nous continuerons de les faire avancer.

It is with great sorrow that we welcome the news of the death of our comrade Eamon McMahon, an Irish activist and trade unionist of as great determination as he was kind. A health care professional, member of the Irish Congress of Trade Union (ICTU), Unison (Health and Social Services Branch), and the Northern Ireland Public Service Alliance, he fought for a world of greater justice and solidarity for all, in Ireland and around the world.
His dedication to justice in Palestine was reflected in his involvement with several networks such as the Trade Union Friends of Palestine, the Belfast Palestine Solidarity Campaign, the Ireland Palestine Mental Health Network, and the European Trade Union Initiative for Justice in Palestine, of which he was often a founding member, thanks to his perseverance and optimism. He accompanied the ICTU's historic delegation to the Occupied Territories, Israel and Gaza in 2007, and it was largely due to his powers of persuasion that many Irish unions joined the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign against the Israeli state.
Eamon always wanted to go further, and motivated his comrades not to give up. We are proud to have known him, to have listened to his advice (with his inimitable Irish accent), and to have shared his struggles. We will miss him but, in his honour, we will continue to carry them forward.
